ABOUT
One of the most fundamental, universal and perpetual commonalities we share as humans is our relationship with time. Our perception of time differs vastly, and as humans’ intrinsic need for storytelling shows, we all share a fascination with time and, most importantly, the ambition to preserve it. One could even say that we use storytelling to make sense of time, in which case film is the ultimate convergence of both.
With the invention of film, humanity achieved something that went far beyond entertainment and recording events: we miraculously found a way to win the race against time by way of ad hoc time traveling into the past, freezing the present with people, animals and locations in it. More than anything, filmmaking allows us to transcend time and its linearity entirely, freeing us from the constraint of a single direction and letting us reimagine the past, present and future altogether.
While fictional film is both a logical and precious modern form of storytelling, non-fiction film complements it by taking us behind the scenes of real and significant occurrences, inviting us into real life stories and sending us on expeditions to ever-changing geographical destinations.
The M.Y.R.A. Documentary Film Fund aims to enable and be part of these journeys.
MISSION
The M.Y.R.A. Documentary Film Fund, a division of M.Y.R.A. Entertainment, aims to contribute to non-fictional storytelling in an effort to entertain, educate and unite today’s and tomorrow’s audiences. Applying M.Y.R.A. Entertainment’s core philosophy of nonviolent entertainment, we invite documentary filmmakers to showcase human potential, exemplary leadership and inspirational audio-visual time capsules of real-life stories and places that will carry on legacies, inspire social responsibility and fuel knowledge, cross-cultural understanding and environmental stewardship.
